COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the high-beam indicator does not illuminate, the wiring harness connector(s) or the combination meter may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check of headlamps (high-beam)

Check that the headlamp (high beam) illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the headlamp first.Refer to trouble symptom chart .

STEP 2. Connector check: C-113 combination meter connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the C-113 combination meter connector.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.

(2)Check the resistance between the C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.13 and body earth.
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness from C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.13 to body earth.

  • Check the earth wires for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Connector check: A-23X headlamp relay (HI) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the wiring harness from C-113 combination meter connector terminal No.24 to A-23X headlamp relay (HI) connector terminal No.3.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-54 <L.H. drive vehicles> or C-14 <R.H. drive vehicles>, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the output lines for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system.

Check that the headlamp indicator illuminates normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Replace the combination meter.
