Inspection Procedure 5: Environment Information Display cannot be Displayed or the Display not Normal.

CIRCUIT OPERATION

The Environment information display calculates the Ambient temperature signal from the Ambient temperature sensor and the atmospheric pressure signal from the engine-ECU, and shows.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If the other display is normal, the Ambient temperature sensor or engine-ECU may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III CAN bus diagnostics

Use the M.U.T.-III to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

Q. Is the check result satisfactory?

Go to Step 2.
Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to GROUP 54C, Diagnosis - Can Bus Diagnostic Table ). After diagnosing the CAN bus lines, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code

Check whether the DIESEL system-related diagnosis code is set.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to GROUP13A, Troubleshooting and then go to Step 3.
Replace engine-ECU and then go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the following connector: A-36 ambient air temperature sensor

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the ambient air temperature sensor.

Check the ambient air temperature sensor.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Replace the ambient air temperature sensor.

STEP 5. Check the following connector: C-108 multi display station connector

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Check the harness wire between C-108 multi display station connector terminals No.23, 31 and A-36 ambient air temperature sensor connector terminals No.1, 2.

note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check intermediate connector C-33, and repair if necessary.

  • Check the output lines for open circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Recheck for malfunction.

Q. Is a malfunction eliminated?

If no malfunctions are found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected. Refer to GROUP 00, How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .
Replace the multi display station.
