REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



warning
  • Never attempt to disassemble or repair the passenger’s air bag cut off switch. If faulty, replace it.

  • Do not drop or subject the passenger’s air bag cut off switch to impact or vibration. Replace the passenger’s air bag cut off switch, if a dent, cracking, deformation, or rust is present.
  • After deployment of an air bag, check the passenger’s air bag cut off switch and replace a new one if there is an abnormality.
Pre-removal Operation
  • Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
  • Disconnect the Negative Battery terminal.

<<A>> PASSENGER’S (FRONT) AIR BAG MODULE CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION


danger Remove the passenger’s (front) air bag module first to prevent the air bag from deploying unintentionally, because the passenger’s air bag cut off switch does not have a connector short circuiting mechanism.

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS



>>A<< PRE-INSTALLATION INSPECTION


Check the passenger’s air bag cut off switch for dents, breakage and bending and measure the resistance between the terminals, even when installing a new passenger’s air bag cut off switch.

>>B<< PASSENGER’S AIR BAG CUT OFF SWITCH INSTALLATION


warning If the passenger’s air bag cut off switch is not installed securely and correctly, the passenger’s (front) air bag may not operate normally.
Securely connect the connector.

>>C<< POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION


1.Reconnect the negative battery cable.
2.Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.

3.Does the SRS warning lamp illuminate for about 7 seconds, and go out?
4.If no, refer to troubleshooting (Refer to ).

5.When the ignition key is inserted in the passenger’s air bag cut off switch cylinder and turned to the "OFF" position, check that the passenger’s air bag cut off indicator lamp illuminates.
