Fix the flywheel assembly using special tool flywheel stopper (MD998781),
and loosen the drive plate bolts.
1.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the entire inner diameter of the crankshaft
rear oil seal lip.
2.Use the following special tools, press-fit a new crankshaft rear oil seal into the oil
seal case.
- Oil seal installer (MB991818)
- Installer bar (MB990938)
3.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the entire inner diameter of the crankshaft
rear oil seal lip.
1.Remove the sealant, engine oil, and other adhering materials from the drive plate
installation face, the crankshaft screw hole and drive plate bolts.
2.Install the drive plate and drive plate adapter plate to the crankshaft.
3.Fix the drive plate using special tool flywheel stopper (MD998781) in the same manner
as removal.
4.Apply the engine oil to the installation face of the drive plate mounting bolts for the
drive plate. 5.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the bearing surface and thread of the drive
plate bolts, and then apply the sealant to the thread as shown in the figure. Specified sealant: ThreeBond 1324 or equivalent
note |
Install the drive plate bolts immediately after applying sealant.
6.Tighten the drive plate bolts to the specified torque in the order shown in the illustration. Tightening torque: 40 N·m 7.Tighten the drive plate bolts to the specified torque again in the order shown in
the illustration. Tightening torque: 130 N·m

1.Remove the sealant, the engine oil, and other adhering materials from the flywheel
installation face, the crankshaft screw hole and flywheel mounting bolts.
2.Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.
3.Use special tool flywheel stopper (MB991883) to secure the flywheel in the same manner
as removal.
4.Apply the engine oil to the installation face of the drive plate mounting bolts for the
drive plate. 5.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the bearing surface and thread of the flywheel
bolts, and then apply the sealant to the thread as shown in the figure. Specified sealant: ThreeBond 1324 or equivalent
note |
Install the flywheel bolts immediately after applying sealant.
6.Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to the specified torque 40 ± 2 N·m
in the order shown in the figure.
7.
caution |
- The bolt is not tightened
sufficiently if the tightening angle is less than a 30° ± 2° angle.
- If the tightening angle exceeds 30° ± 2°, remove the
bolt and repeat from the start.
Using the special tool angle gauge (MB991614), additionally tighten the flywheel bolts
to 30° ± 2°.
1.Apply a small amount of engine oil to the entire inner diameter of the crankshaft
front oil seal lip.
2.
caution |
When installing the crankshaft front oil seal, be careful
to avoid damage to the crankshaft front oil seal.
Use the following special tools, press-fit a new crankshaft front oil seal into the timing
chain case.
- Oil seal installer (MB992290)
- Handle (MB992075)
