VARIABLE GEOMETRY ACTUATOR CHECK

1.Remove the vacuum hose from the variable geometry (VG) actuator. Connect the hand vacuum pump to the nipple.

2.
caution In order to avoid damage to the diaphragm, do not apply a vacuum of 62 kPa or higher.
Apply the vacuum pressure (of approximately 57 kPa) until the VG actuator link touches the stopper bolt. This allows the actuator rod to fully shrink.
3.Leak the vacuum pressure gradually as much as possible to check the vacuum pressure when the VG actuator rod moves approximately 1 mm in the extension direction.
Standard value: Approximately 52.0 - 55.0 kPa
4.If the vacuum pressure significantly deviates from the standard value, check the actuator or the variable nozzle. Replace the turbocharger assembly if necessary.
