INSPECTION PROCEDURE
C-2: Dead lock does not work even if dead Lock is activated.
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If a door cannot be dead locked by the dead locking system, the door lock actuator may
be defective.
PROBABLE CAUSES
Malfunction of the door lock actuator
Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE
STEP 1. Check the operation of the central door locking
system.
Check that the central door locking system works normally.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 2.
Refer to Central Door Locking System Symptom Procedures .
STEP 2. Confirm which door lock actuator is defective.
Q.
Which door fails to lock correctly?
Driver’s door : Go to Step 3.
Front passenger’s door : Go to Step 5.
Rear right door : Go to Step 7.
Rear left door : Go to Step 9.
STEP 3. Check the front door lock actuator (RH)
Check that the front door lock actuator (RH) works normally. Refer to Door Latch Assembly
Inspection .
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 4.
Replace the front door lock actuator (RH).
STEP 4. Check short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit
in DLIP line between dead lock relay connector and front door lock actuator (RH) connector.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use
Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 5. Check the front door lock actuator (LH).
Check that the front door lock actuator (LH) works normally. Refer to Door Latch Assembly
Inspection .
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 6.
Replace the front door lock actuator (LH).
STEP 6. Check short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit
in DLIP line between dead lock relay connector and front door lock actuator (LH) connector.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use
Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 7. Check the rear door lock actuator (RH).
Check that the rear door lock actuator (RH) is in good condition. Refer to Door Latch
Assembly Inspection .
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 8.
Replace the rear door lock actuator (RH).
STEP 8. Check short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit
in DEAD line between dead lock relay connector and rear door lock actuator (RH) connector.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use
Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
STEP 9. Check the rear door lock actuator (LH).
Check that the rear door lock actuator (LH) is in good condition. Refer to Door Latch
Assembly Inspection .
Q.
Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 10.
Replace the rear door lock actuator (LH).
STEP 10. Check short to power supply, short to earth, and open circuit
in DEAD line between dead lock relay connector and rear door lock actuator (LH) connector.
Q.
Is the check result normal?
The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00, How to use
Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).
