Inspection Procedure 11: The wiper-linked auto lamp function does not work normally. <Vehicles with photo sensor>



caution
  • Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
  • When the ETACS-ECU of vehicles without KOS is replaced, the encrypted code of the ignition key needs to be registered to the ETACS-ECU. (If the encrypted code is not registered, the engine cannot be started. Register the encrypted code as described in Immobilizer System - How to Register Key ID .)


OPERATION


The ETACS-ECU operates this function in accordance with the input signals below.


COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If this function does not work normally, the above switch input circuit(s) or ETACS-ECU may have a problem.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. ETACS-ECU customise function check


Use the ETACS-ECU customise function to check that the "Auto lamp linked wiper" is set to "Enable."

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Use the ETACS-ECU customise function to set the "Auto light linked wiper" to "Enable" (Refer to ).

STEP 2. Windshield wipers operation check


Check that the windshield wipers work normally by operating the relevant switches.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Troubleshoot the windshield wiper (Refer to GROUP 51 - Windshield wiper and washer - Troubleshooting ).

STEP 3. Check the auto lamp function operation.


Check that the auto lamp function works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.

Refer to Inspection Procedure 8 "The auto lamp function does not Work normally. <Vehicles without lighting control sensor or vehicles without LDW>" .

STEP 4. Retest the system


Check that the wiper-linked auto-lamp function works normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Replace the ETACS-ECU.
