Code No. P0488: Intake Air Control Flap Status Line

When the engine-ECU is replaced with the new one, DTC P0488 is stored when the ignition switch is firstly turned to ON position. This is not, however, caused by a malfunction. When the ignition switch is firstly turned to ON position after the engine-ECU replaced, erase DTC P0488.

Status line error (initialization failed after ignition on)

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition

Ignition switch: ON

Judgment Criterion

After the ignition switch is turned to ON from OFF, the status line at the beginning is "HIGH" or too long at "LOW".

FAIL SAFE FUNCTION

Intake air control flap control is prohibited.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Failed intake air control flap
Failed electrical harness in intake air control flap circuit
