HYDRAULIC PRESSURE CHECK

1.Disconnect the oil pump from the pressure hose, and install the following special tools:

  • Oil pressure gauge adapter A (pump side) (MB991548)
  • Oil pressure gauge adapter B (hose side) (MB991549)
  • Power steering oil pressure gauge (MB990662)
2.Bleed the system and repeat the stationary steering several times to raise the fluid temperature to 50 to 60°C.
3.Start the engine, and maintain the engine speed at 1000 ± 100 r/min.
4.Fully close the shutoff valve of the pressure gauge, and check that the relief pressure of the oil pump is within the range of standard value.
Standard value: 8.8 - 9.5 MPa
5.If the relief pressure is outside the standard value, disassemble and assemble the oil pump, and then measure the relief pressure again.
6.Fully open the shutoff valve of the pressure gauge, and check that the no-load hydraulic pressure is within the range of standard value.
Standard value: 0.2 - 0.7 MPa
7.When the measurement is outside the standard value, malfunction of the oil line or steering gear may be present. Repair the suspected component, and measure the hydraulic pressure again.
8.Turn the steering wheel fully in either direction and hold it, and then check that the hydraulic pressure is within the range of standard value.
Standard value: 8.8 - 9.5 MPa
9.If the measurement is less than the standard value, disassemble and assemble the steering gear, and then measure the hydraulic pressure again. If the measurement is greater than the standard value, disassemble and assemble the oil pump flow control valve, and then measure the hydraulic pressure again.
10.Remove the special tools, and then tighten the pressure hose to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 57 ± 7 N·m
11.Bleed the system.
