caution Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the earth circuit and the communication circuit are normal.

















COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


Malfunctions of the sunroof motor assembly power supply/earth system, sunroof motor assembly, or sunroof switch are suspected.

PROBABLE CAUSES




DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE


STEP 1. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code


Check that any sunroof operation-related diagnosis codes are set in ETACS-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

Refer to diagnosis code chart .

Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Connector check: D-03 sunroof switch connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 3. Sunroof switch check


Refer to sunroof switch check .

Q. Is the sunroof switch normal?

Go to Step 4.

Replace the sunroof switch.

STEP 4. Resistance measurement at D-03 sunroof switch connector


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the resistance at the D-03 sunroof switch connector terminal No. 4 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity (less than 2 Ω)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 6.

STEP 5. Check of the wiring harness between the D-03 sunroof switch connector terminal No. 4 and the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 1



Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Connector check: D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Resistance measurement at D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the resistance at the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 2 and the body earth.
OK: Continuity (less than 2 Ω)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 9.

Go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check of the wiring harness between the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 2 and the body earth



Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 9. Voltage measurement at D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the voltage at the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 6 and the body earth.
(3)OK: Battery positive voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.

Go to Step 10.

STEP 10. Check of the wiring harness between the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 6 and the fusible link (33)


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check the C-309 and C-316 ETACS-ECU connectors, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 11. Voltage measurement at D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Turn the ignition switch ON position.
(3)Measure the voltage at the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 3 and the body earth.
(4)OK: Battery positive voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.

Go to Step 12.

STEP 12. Check of the wiring harness between the D-04 sunroof motor assembly connector terminal No. 1 and the ignition switch (IG1).


note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check the C-317 ETACS-ECU connector and C-40 intermediate connector, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 13. Retest the system.


Check that the sunroof works normally.

Replace the sunroof motor assembly.
