INSPECTION PROCEDURE 2: Electric-folding door mirror(s) do not work.

















caution Whenever the ECU is replaced, ensure that the input and output signal circuits are normal.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
If either of the electric folding door mirrors does not work, the appropriate door mirror assembly may be defective.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Malfunction of the door mirror assembly
  • Malfunction of ETACS-ECU
  • Damaged wiring harness and connectors

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Determine a trouble spot.

Q. Which of the door mirrors cannot be folded/unfolded?
Driver’s door mirror : Go to Step 2.
Passenger’s door mirror : Go to Step 6.

STEP 2. Check the E-01 door mirror assembly (Passenger’s side) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 3.
Repair the damaged connector.

STEP 3. Check the door mirror assembly (Passenger’s side).
Check that the door mirror (Passenger’s side) works normally (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Replace the door mirror assembly (Passenger’s side).

Step 4. Check the following connector the C-317 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 5.
Repair the damaged connector.

STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between E-01 door mirror assembly (Passenger’s side) connector (terminal Nos. 7 and 6) and C-317 ETACS-ECU connector (terminal Nos. 13 and 14).
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check C-129 intermediate connector, and repair it if necessary.

  • Check the input and output lines for open or short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 6. Check the E-14 door mirror assembly (Driver’s side) connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 7.
Repair the damaged connector.

STEP 7. Check the door mirror assembly (Driver’s side).
Check that the door mirror (Driver’s side) works normally (Refer to ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Replace the door mirror assembly (Driver’s side).

Step 8. Check the following connector the C-317 ETACS-ECU connector

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 9.
Repair the damaged connector.

STEP 9. Check the wiring harness between E-14 door mirror assembly (Driver’s side) connector (terminal Nos. 7 and 6) and C-317 ETACS-ECU connector (terminal Nos. 13 and 14).
note Prior to the wiring harness inspection, check C-114intermediate connector, and repair it if necessary.

  • Check the input and output lines for open or short circuit.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Go to Step 10.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 10. Retest the system.
Check that the electric folding door mirrors work normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction .)
Replace ETACS-ECU.
