Inspection Procedure 11: Any of the Position Lamps or the Licence Plate Lamp does not Illuminate.
















COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM


If any of the position lamps or the licence plate lamp does not illuminate normally, the harness, connector(s), or bulb(s) may have a problem, or the fuse may be burned out.

PROBABLE CAUSES



DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE


STEP 1. Connector check: A-54 <position lamp RH> or A-37 <position lamp LH> headlamp assembly connector, F-08 <licence plate lamp LH> or F-03 <licence plate lamp RH> licence plate lamp connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 2.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Bulb check


Check the bulb(s) of the lamp that does not illuminate.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3.

Replace the bulb(s) of the lamp that does not illuminate.

STEP 3. Resistance measurement at the A-54 <position lamp RH> or A-37 <position lamp LH> headlamp assembly connector, F-08 <licence plate lamp LH> or F-03 <licence plate lamp RH> licence plate lamp connector


(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
(2)Measure the resistance between the connector of lamp which does not illuminate and the body earth.

  • Measure the resistance between the A-37 (LH), A-54 (RH) headlamp assembly connector terminal No. 8 and the body earth. <Position lamp>
  • Measure the resistance between the F-03 (LH), F-08 (RH) licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 1 and the body earth. <Licence plate lamp>
OK: Continuity exists (2 Ω or less)

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.

Go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Wiring harness check between the A-54 <position lamp RH> or A-37 <position lamp LH> headlamp assembly connector terminal No. 8 or F-08 <licence plate lamp RH> or F-03 <licence plate lamp LH> licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 1 and the body earth



Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Connector check: C-304 <position lamp>, C-311 <licence plate lamp> ETACS-ECU connector


Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 6.

Repair the defective connector.

STEP 6. Wiring harness check between the A-54 <position lamp RH>, A-37 <position lamp LH> headlamp assembly connector terminal No. 6 and the C-304 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 7 <RH> or 3 <LH>, or the F-08 <licence plate lamp RH>, or the F-03 <licence plate lamp LH> licence plate lamp connector terminal No. 2 and C-311 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 10


note Before the wiring harness check, check the D-12 <licence plate lamp>, and repair that if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.

Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 7. Retest the system


Check that the position lamp and licence plate lamp illuminate normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The lamps illuminate normally at both high and low beams. : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction ).

When the position lamps do not illuminate : Replace the position lamp socket.

When the licence plate lamps do not illuminate : Replace the licence plate lamp socket.
