Inspection Procedure 4: Either of Reversing sensor(Corner Sensor/Back sensor) does not Detect the Obstacle.

COMMENTS ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM

If either reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) do not detect the obstacle, the wiring harness, connectors, each sensor or corner sensor/back sensor-ECU may be defective. In addition, obstacle is not detected when the ultrasonic noise is received.

PROBABLE CAUSES

  • Damaged harness wires and connectors
  • Malfunction of reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor)
  • Malfunction of corner sensor/back sensor-ECU

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Check the corner sensor/back sensor for interference.

Q. Are there anything that interferes with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and an air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the corner sensor/back sensor?

Move away or remove things that interfere with the communication (things that generate radio waves such as magnets and a air-cleaning device that has a power plug) near the corner sensor/back sensor.
Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Confirm which reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) does not detect the obstacle.

Q. Which reversing sensor (corner sensor/back sensor) does not detect the obstacle?

Corner sensor (rear: RH) : Go to Step 3.
Corner sensor (rear: LH) : Go to Step 6.
Back sensor (RH) : Go to Step 9.
Back sensor (LH) : Go to Step 12.

STEP 3. Connector check: C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector and F-12 corner sensor (rear: RH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between F-12 corner sensor (rear: RH) connector (terminal No. 1, 2) and C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 8, 10).

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors C-35, F-22 and F-19, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 5.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 5. Verification after corner sensor replacement

After replacing the corner sensor (rear: RH), verify that the reversing sensor system is normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the corner sensor/back sensor-ECU.

STEP 6. Connector check: C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector and F-20 corner sensor (rear: LH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 7.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 7. Check the wiring harness between F-20 corner sensor (rear: LH) connector (terminal No. 1, 2) and C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 7, 10).

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors C-35, F-22 and F-19, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 8. Verification after corner sensor replacement

After replacing the corner sensor (rear: LH), verify that the reversing sensor system is normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the corner sensor/back sensor-ECU.

STEP 9. Connector check: C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector and F-15 back sensor (RH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 10. Check the wiring harness between F-15 back sensor (RH) connector (terminal No. 1, 2) and C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 6, 10).

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors C-35, F-22 and F-19, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 11.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 11. Verification after back sensor replacement

After replacing the back sensor (RH), verify that the reversing sensor system is normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the corner sensor/back sensor-ECU.

STEP 12. Connector check: C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector and F-18 back sensor (LH) connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 13.
Repair the defective connector.

STEP 13. Check the wiring harness between F-18 back sensor (LH) connector (terminal 1, 2) and C-125 corner sensor/back sensor-ECU connector (terminal No. 9, 10).

note Before the wiring harness inspection, inspect the intermediate connectors C-35, F-22 and F-19, and repair if necessary.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 14.
Repair the wiring harness.

STEP 14. Verification after back sensor replacement

After replacing the back sensor (LH), verify that the reversing sensor system is normally.

Q. Is the check result normal?

The procedure is complete.
Replace the corner sensor/back sensor-ECU.
