Diagnosis Item 8: Diagnose when the M.U.T.-III cannot receive the data sent by ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC>

caution

When servicing a CAN bus line, earth yourself by touching a metal object such as an unpainted water pipe. If you fail to do, a component connected to the CAN bus line may be broken.

FUNCTION

If the M.U.T.-III can not communicate with the ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC>, this diagnosis result will be set.

TRUBLE JUDGEMENT CONDITIONS

If a communication flag is not set for the ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC>, the ETACS-ECU determines that there is a failure.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

Malfunction of the connector [joint connector (CAN3) or ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC> connector improperly connected]
Malfunction of the wiring harness [open circuit between the ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC> and the joint connector (CAN3), power supply circuit to the ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC>]
Malfunction of the ABS-ECU <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU <vehicles with ASC>

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. Connector check: A-02 ABS-ECU connector <vehicles without ASC> or A-03 ASC-ECU connector <vehicles with ASC> and C-01 joint connector (CAN3)

caution

The strand end of the twist wire should be within 10 cm from the connector. For details refer to

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2.

	Repair the defective connector.

STEP 2. Check the wiring harness between A-02 ABS-ECU connector <vehicles without ASC> or A-03 ASC-ECU connector <vehicles with ASC> and C-01 joint connector (CAN3)

Strictly observe the specified wiring harness repair procedure. For details refer to

Disconnect ABS-ECU connector <vehicles without ASC> or ASC-ECU connector <vehicles with ASC> and joint connector (CAN3), and check the following wiring harness.

The wiring harness between A-02 ABS-ECU connector terminal No.4 and C-01 joint connector (CAN3) terminal No.6 <vehiclees without ASC - CAN_H>
The wiring harness between A-03 ASC-ECU connector terminal No.11 and C-01 joint connector (CAN3) terminal No.6 <vehiclees with ASC - CAN_H>
The wiring harness between A-02 ABS-ECU connector terminal No.6 and C-01 joint connector (CAN3) terminal No.19 <vehiclees without ASC - CAN_L>
The wiring harness between A-03 ASC-ECU connector terminal No.15 and C-01 joint connector (CAN3) terminal No.19 <vehiclees with ASC - CAN_L>

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Check the power supply circuit of the ASC-ECU.Refer to Group 35C - Troubleshooting .

	Repair the wiring harness.
