GENERAL INFORMATION (FUEL ADDITIVE SYSTEM)

The fuel additive system mixes the fuel additive Eolys with the fuel at the constant rate. The effect of the fuel additive can decrease the temperature required to burn the particulate matter (PM) from approximately 550°C to approximately 450°C. This allows the effective regeneration of diesel particulate filter (DPF) mounted in the underfloor to be carried out. The fuel additive tank installed in the rear of the fuel tank is filled with fuel additive. The fuel additive pump built in the fuel additive tank pumps the fuel additive to the fuel tank. The fuel additive-ECU calculates the amount of fuel additive added according to the amount of fuel supplied, and sends its information to the engine-ECU. The engine-ECU drives the fuel additive pump according to the amount of the fuel additive added. The amount of fuel additive remaining is managed by the engine-ECU according to the amount of fuel additive added or the driving period of fuel additive pump.

WARNING SIGN OF AMOUNT OF RESIDUAL FUEL ADDITIVE

When the fuel additive, Eolys 176, in the fuel additive tank must be added, the engine-ECU displays the warning mark for the remaining amount of fuel additive on the multi information display of the combination meter. At that time, the engine-ECU stores the diagnosis code, No. P1446. In this case, the fuel additive tank assembly is replaced. Refer to , Fuel Additive Tank Replacement.
