DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

note The vehicle having the optional remote control engine starter can possibly store the diagnosis code when the remote control engine starter fails. In that case, make the vehicle condition to the one before installing the remote control engine starter. Check that the engine starts. If the engine starts, carry out the troubleshooting of the installation instructions packaged together with the remote control engine starter. If the engine does not start, carry out the following troubleshooting.

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III other system diagnosis code.

  • Confirm whether the diagnosis codes are output from immobilizer-ECU.

Q. Is the diagnosis code output?

Perform the troubleshooting of immobilizer system (Refer to GROUP 54A - Immobilizer System - Diagnosis Code Chart <3 000, 3 800> ).
Go to Step 2

STEP 2. Connector check: D-310-1 immobilizer-ECU connector and D-245 engine-ECU <M/T> connector or D-216 engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> connector.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 3 .
Repair or replace the connector.

STEP 3. Check harness between D-310-1 (terminal No. 3) immobilizer-ECU connector and D-245 (terminal No. 65) engine-ECU <M/T> connector or D-216 (terminal No. 65) engine-A/T-ECU <A/T> connector.

note Before checking harness, check intermediate connectors D-229 and D-310, and repair if necessary.

  • Check output line for open/short circuit and damage.

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 4 .
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 4. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code.

  • Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is diagnosis code set?

Replace the engine-ECU <M/T> or engine-A/T-ECU <A/T>.
Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
