Code No. P0234: Turbocharger Overboost Condition

FUNCTION

The engine-ECU checks whether the boost pressure is not higher than the specified value.

TROUBLE JUDGMENT

Check Condition

Engine is running

Judgement Criterion

The boost pressure exceeds the abnormality determination value for 3 seconds.

FAIL-SAFE AND BACKUP FUNCTION

Fuel injection is restricted (output restriction).
Exhaust gas recirculation control is stopped (fully closed).

PROBABLE CAUSES

Failed waste gate actuator
Failed engine-ECU

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check waste gate actuator itself.

Check waste gate actuator itself (Refer GROUP 15 - On-Vehicle Service - Turbocharger Waste Gate Actuator Check ).

Q. Is the check result normal?

	Go to Step 2 .

	Replace the waste gate actuator.

STEP 2. M.U.T.-III diagnosis code

Reconfirmation of diagnosis code.

Q. Is the diagnosis code set?

	Replace the engine-ECU. After replacing the engine-ECU, register the injector identification code and learn fuel injection. (Refer to GROUP 00 - Precautions Before Service - What The Common Rail Engine Learns ).

	Intermittent malfunction (Refer to GROUP 00 - How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Points - How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunctions ).
